Conduit Announce

The Conduit team is proud to announce the release of Conduit 0.3.0, the first in an unstable development series.

Conduit is a synchronization application for GNOME. It allows you to synchronize your data between online web services (Gmail, backpackit.com, flickr, etc) and your computer.

This release signifies the completion of the core sync engine rewrite from 0.2.0 and marks the first time that Conduit is useful both as an end user sync application, and as a desktop sync service.

Conduit 0.3.0 is currently capable of the following synchronisation partnerships

  • Two way file/folder sync on gnomevfs volumes
  • Two way Tomboy note sync via gnomevfs volumes
  • Two way Tomboy note sync via ipod notes
  • One way sync of files/folders of photos to Flickr
  • One way sync of Fspot tagged photos to Flickr

These parternships can be run entirely from Conduit's DBus interface allowing two way synchronization to be easily added to your application.

KNOWN ISSUES: This release has a few known issues that are currently being worked on. • Gmail dataprovider does not suppport all operations. • Settings dataprovider is not yet completed • Occasional redraw issues and/or segfaults in the Connector code (goocanvas.PathModel). Currenlty unable to reproduce reliably.

CAVEATS: The conduit 0.3.0 series is a devlopement relese so please do not use on files which you care deeply about. In addition the DB format may change between updates so you may encounter some items being synchronized twice, not removed correctly.

If you are in doubt about anything then please selece "Ask me what to do" from conduit preferences - this will ensure that conduit does not delete anything without your consent.
